We attended the 5th Nigeria Family Planning Conference in Abuja in December 2018. Our engagement began at the youth pre-conference on the theme “Family Planning Investment, Innovation and Inclusiveness – Adolescent and Youth-led Programs as key to meeting National Family Planning Goals”. In attendance was our Head of Programmes, Fatima Musa Aliyu and Youth Programme Manager, Mubarak Idris.
We also attended the opening session with the keynote address from the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, representing the Vice President, Prof. Yomi Osinbajo on “the pivotal role of family planning in accelerating the prospects of Nigeria achieving demographic dividend”. Highlight of our meeting was with Laura Wedeen, the Senior Program Director in International Programs of the Population Reference Bureau.
